Can we meet you?
My names are Luke-Adetule Gbenga Aderemi, I’m from a Christian home and the eldest of three kids, I hail from Ekiti state, I’m a final year student of Ladoke Akintola University of technology, Ogbomosho, Oyo. NVO which stands for NAIJAS VERY OWN is my brand name..
Tell us more about the brand?
Started up March 2013, we are proudly Nigerian fashion house that offers premium quality and bespoke outfits to suit your style and make you standout of the norm. We redefine awesomeness as we keep it 101%, placing customer satisfaction as our topmost priority. The way you dress is the way you would be addressed. We have got the dress for you.
What was growing up like for you?
I was born and raised in port harcourt , rivers state. Growing up was fun, I can say I had everything a child “needed”… I had a strict father but i can say the upbringing carved me into the person I am today. I work my butt off for whatever I want and I never give up; you are looking at a fighter.
When did you discover your talents?
I have been a creative individual from a very tender age, I had flare for drawing and creative arts. My parents would scold me for using up my exercise books to draw, but I have learned to harness that talent and incorporate it into the fashion world, and it’s been fun.
Are your parents in support of this?
Yes, I don’t see why they shouldn’t be.
Why did you register for NSFDW?
I wanted to explore more territory and let people see what I have to offer even become an international brand someday, NSFDW has the potential to take me to that level so..why waste anymore time ?
How did you hear about the event?
A friend told me about it.
What are your expectations from the event?
To learn more, meet people and build my clientele base.
What should we be looking out for from NVO WEARS at NSFDW 2014?
Uniqueness and creativity.
What do you think is the greatest challenge emerging designers are facing and how can this be corrected?
Well I would say finance, it’s a major factor in starting up any business and in Nigeria there are few people that would sponsor your dream, banks turn down proposals for loan without even looking through. There should be a loan scheme to assist emerging designers, this would go a long way in helping them achieve their goals.
