360Fresh: Tallest – In The Morning

share on:

Following the release of his recently-released controversial “Soul Survivor [Ale Iberu]” single, indigenous rapper and fast-rising rookie-on-the-scene, Tallest [real name – Olajide Gafar] lends his voice as he aids the cause for the Chibok kidnapping currently disrupting the country.

A large number of highly influential figures which include the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, have joined in to support the #BringBackOurGirl hash-tag, in a bid to help spread awareness for the kidnapping; seemingly, a number of Nigerian artistes have put out musical offerings and as Tallest’s version shouldn’t be seen as just another artiste taking advantage of the situation, it should be regarded as a well-crafted piece – one in which the young artiste fuses the pain from the Chibok kidnappings with the pain he feels from deep within his heart based on the loss of his mother and the struggles he had to face at an early age.

In what we see as a creative offering rendered over a laid-back instrumental delivered by Xpensive Beat, Tallest tells us the story of his life as he shares his pain and also that of the abducted girls; it would be recalled that Amnesty International says it believes the Nigerian military had 4 hours advanced warning of the kidnapping, but failed to send reinforcements to protect the school – Nigeria’s armed forces have also confirmed that the Nigerian military had 4 hours advance notice of the attack but that their over-extended forces were unable to mobilize reinforcements; we can only lend our voice and with the faith of a mustard seed, we can surely move mountains.
