Actor Nicholas Cage has said the opportunity to star in Left Behind as “impossible to resist”.

Cage, who has had an illustrious career, described playing pilot Rayford Steele in the apocalyptic feature as a “new experience” for him.

“I’d never been in a situation like that in a movie before,” Nicolas is quoted as saying by Movieswithbutter.com while speaking at a press conference for his newest release, Joe.

“I’m a pilot of a transatlantic jumbo jet and my passengers start disappearing on the plane and I don’t know where they are. To me that was a challenge that was just too exciting to resist.”

Left Behind is based on the series of novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. The books tell the story of survivors who are battling to live on earth after most humans disappeared as a result of The Rapture, a biblical Christian belief.
