Academy Award-winning star Lupita Nyong’o has been named one of Hollywood’s “Fresh Faces” by Fashion and Beauty Magazine Marie Claire. Her cover is one of five in the magazine’s May 2014 issue featuring fellow Hollywood “It” girls: Kate Mara, Elle Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen, and Emilia Clarke. In the magazine, Lupita opens up about her style, rise to stardom and what it’s like to meet famous stars. When asked about being considered a style icon, Lupita says she wasn’t a follower of fashion; it was a world unknown till she met her stylist, Micaela Erlanger and together they interpreted her style. She concluded by saying “I don’t dress to impress, I don’t feel that pressure”.
Marie Claire Magazine hosted a party to celebrate the “Fresh Faces” issue of the magazine on April 8, 2014 in West Hollywood and as usual, Lupita took the spotlight as she dazzled in a light gray, embroidered Giambattista Valli dress and gold Christian Louboutin heels.
The ever radiant natural beauty definitely has the wow-factor; there’s always something new about Lupita that creates a look at me moment on the red carpet and this time it’s her new faux-mohawk, pompadour hairstyle. It was the perfect addition to an effortlessly chic and striking ensemble.
Since her meteoric rise to stardom after her role in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave, Lupita has taken to the role of rising star with ease and expressed this with her style and beauty. There’s no going back for the Yale graduate who is living her dream.
