For those in Nigeria who have been following the developments surrounding the film adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s Half of A Yellow Sun which reportedly cost about $10 Million to make, you should mark your calendars and save the date as the movie now has a release date for Nigerian cinemas – April 12th.

Half of a Yellow Sun follows Olanna (Newton) and Kainene (Rose), glamorous twins from a wealthy Nigerian family. Returning to a privileged city life in newly independent 1960s Nigeria after their expensive English education, Olanna shocks her family by going to live with her lover in the dusty university town of Nsukka, and Kainene turns out to be a successful businesswoman when she takes over the family interests — and surprises herself when she falls in love with Richard (Mawle), an English writer.

The Nigerian release date for the movie comes after the movie has been released in Australia on the 27th of March and in the United Kingdom on the 11th of April. The exact release date of the movie in the United States is yet to be announced.
