In the intimate setting was a crowd full of PR and record executives and press as well as adoring Afrobeats fans who were all ready to witness raw talent on stage giving their best with a live band performing behind them.
Martel B, Nizzy, Tyroon Da Prince, FT Fresh Music, Vicky Sola, Rotimo and Zafi B all took to the stage giving energetic sets which were all rounded up by the much anticipated headlining set by Moelogo.
Each artist came on stage and left a lasting impression on the crowd but the two performances that really stood out with unique professionalism and star power were that of Vicky Sola and Moelogo.
Vicky Solar(13 years old, believe it or not) gave the crowd Afro-Brit pop with Janelle Monae and and Solange Knowles‘ swag, powerful vocals and stage presence as she performed “OMG”. She then serenaded the crowd with a reggae vibe that had even the hardest of fellas in the crowd swaying from side to side and nodding their heads. From there she went straight into a more Afrobeat inspired track called “Dance Away Your Sorrows” that had the crowd jumping, waving and dancing. If there was any performance that ticked all the boxes from originality to energy it’s Vicky Sola. Definitely a name to look out for.
Moelogo hit the stage as the headlining act. After thanking the crowd for coming out he began engaging the crowd with his smooth vocals. There is no way you can find fault with Moelogo when he performs. The combination of his beautifully powerful singing voice, clever lyricism and great musical ear is a win with the crowd every time. Being that it was Moe’s birthday I’m sure he brought his A game to rock the crowd but I’m sure I’m not in the minority when I say that I’m sure it be never seen a bad Moelogo performance. He can stand tall on the same stage as any performer from any genre. He makes the girls swoon and the guy’s wish they were him. As he stated in his latest single ‘The Baddest’ “I can do like Chris Brown, and I can sing like Michael and I can twist like Trey Songz“. That indeed is the formula for a successful artist.
Despite the comparisons these two artists are definitely stars in their own right and are sure to blow to become the biggest stars the world will come to celebrate.
