Another mass shooting has occurred in the USA where four people have died and sixteen injured at an army base called Fort Hood in Killeen Texas. The shooter, known as Ivan Lopez opened fire on innocent people, before committing suicide after a gun battle with military police on the base.
Ivan was a soldier who served in Iraq and was described by the Army post’s commander, Lt. Gen. Mark. A. Milley as having had “behavioural health and mental issues”
Milley added that there was no known motive for what he did.
“There is no indication that this incident is related to terrorism, although we are not ruling anything
out,” he said.
It was reported that the incident started with a soldier to soldeir attack but it escalated and led to the death of three and injury of sixteen others.
President Barack Obama was briefed
and said, “we’re heartbroken something like this might have happened again.”
He was referring to a similar incidence in the same base that happened in 2009 where 13 people were left dead and 32 injured in another mass shooting by Nidal Hassan who was sentenced to death in 2013. The 2009 shooting has been tagged the worst mass murder at a military installation in the United States history.
Names of yesterday’s casualties are yet to be released. President Obama promises that investigations carried out will get to the bottom of what happened.
