Noble Igwe’s “Egwu” of the Week – SURULERE (PATIENCE IS REWARDING)

share on:

Editor’s Note: egwu – defined as song

I’ve tried to imagine life without music and all that comes to mind is a picture of a bus park with people shouting at each other.

MUSIC is a vital part of my everyday activity and like I once told some friends, Sex without Music is just Sex, With Music, it’s “love making”.

Music forms a vital part of my daily activity; I start and end the day with music.

Here’s how I start my day – wake up, increase the volume of the music in the background that played all through the night, change the playlist, take a bath, dress up for work and while going to the car, grab a can of Red Bull for wings, fly out the door.

Music+ Red Bull gives me bigger wings to fly.

My RedBull Egwu of week is “ Surulere” by Dr Sid ft Don Jazzy

Do you have any song that makes you act a fool while driving alone in traffic? This is that song for me. I cannot pronounce a single Yoruba word in this song but you can never tell because I have mastered the skill that is “Mouth Chopping”.

Surulere” is that song you don’t dance to with any form of Decency. You just have to let go and scatter the floor around you without shame.

The Good thing about “Surulere” is that you don’t need to know how to sing the entire song, Just remember the hook and when its that time, shout without shame because almost everybody around you will be doing the same including Cool kids.

My favourite part of the songs goes thus

“I don make mistakes

I don grow I don learn something I no know

So I thank God I still dey here

Una dey look but you no know sey

E don tey the days wey I dey cry out

My fire no go die out

Enemies dem o want me to bow out

But my rivers of blessing will never dry out “

Are you having a rough day at work? Are you having a rough time in your relationship?

Have Patience, Grab a can of RedBull and listen to “Surulere

On a serious note, If a girl ever left you because you don’t have anything and wants to come back after you’ve achieved something, please send her this song to listen to .

  1. ds song is trippn me die! it applies to me on every angle.. I came to Abuja by myself, no father, mother or family support. people laff me die. I vividly remember trekking from Maitama to jabi at d close of work… not same anymore. I’m so good at wat I do now dat jobs be running after me. I’m not there yet but people Who laughed at me are eating their words and watchn as I climb from step to step. d girls r lining up so well I’m now confused. never stop believing, God is faithful.
