Screen gems is moving forward on producing an English-language remake of Gareth Evans’ 2011 film The Raid: Redemption which has since become a huge hit with a sequel due in cinemas this March and the man in talks to helm the movie is Patrick Hughes who directed the upcoming Expendables 3.
According to Variety, Hughes and Screen Gems are having final discussions for him to bring the unnecessary remake of one of the best action movies in recent times to the big screen as they’ve got a script already courtesy of of writer Brad Ingleby.
While many fans of the original movie are still against this movie remake, the producers feel they can top the work Evans and his team did to put out the first one and they are rumored to be gunning for the Hemsworth brothers (Chris and Liam) to sign-on for the project even though they seem out of place in this context.
If Patrick Hughes and the studio do agree terms then obviously The Expendables 3 will be scrutinized even more as people would want to see what he’d be able to do with a remake of The Raid.
Let’s know what you think about this decision for Screen Gems to move on with the remake and Patrick Hughes involvement.Source: Variety
