The Nigerian Pitch Awards enters it’s final stage.

The inaugural edition of the Nigeria Pitch Awards is around the corner, the Awards which has now been endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation, have announced that the voting and nomination processes are in the final stages.

Speaking to the press on Monday , Mr. Shina Philips, the Chief Executive of Matchmakers Consult International Limited said the nomination process, which began on October 17, is being directly handled by BDO Professional Services. BDO International is a top world-rated accountancy firm, which serves national and international clients, apparently the have been contracted for the Inaugural edition of the Pitch Awards

Mr. Shina Philips speaking to the press said “A hundred nomination forms were sent out to 100 respondents spread across the 36 states of the federation. Over seventy per cent of the respondents were sports media personalities. The rest were made up of football administrators, coaches, ex-national internationals and supporters of football.

“There is at least one voter in each state of the federation. In addition, the forms were safely delivered by the Independent Nomination Collation Body. We are pleased with the responses we have received so far. This is a very clear indication that Nigerians are excited about the award.”

The Nigeria Pitch Award will be the  first-ever Nigeria Football Awards to be endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation and will be honouring  actors in all departments on the pitch of play,  which also includes referees, coaches, administrators, managers, players’ agents, sponsors and football-friendly state governments.

The inaugural edition is expected to be held in  Calabar on Saturday, 16th November barely hours after the Super Eagles’ final 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia in the same city.
