If you don’t know who Sean Tizzle is by now, you’ve got to be living under a rock 🙂 . It’s exactly a week since his blazing hot performance at Cokobar Music Festival and the “Sho le” singer is still making the rounds around London.
The rising Afrobeats star and hit producer D’Tunes chilled with DJ Edu and spoke briefly about how they came to be amongst the hottest stars out of Africa right now and D ‘Tunes’ unique sound.
Sean Tizzle explained how he started five years ago but things blew up for him once he hooked up with D’Tunes and decided to unleash a huge dance floor smash in 2013. When DJ Edu asked Sean about being signed to D ‘Tunes’ record label Difference Entertainment and how big of a deal the record label is, he replied “To me, for now, it’s the biggest.”
DJ Edu also asked how D’Tunes comes up with his unique beats especially after the mega hit “Kukere” which he produced for Iyanya that brought about a new sound in the Nigerian music scene. D’Tunes said that he doesn’t listen to much of anyone else’s music and explained why by saying,“I actually don’t listen to music…you know, music is passing…that’s the way music is, it influences your sub-conscious.”
Before they left Sean Tizzle and D’Tunes taught DJ Edu some pidgin English and the meaning of “Sho lee” and in return Edu taught them a few things in his own language. Sean Tizzle even gave a little rendition of Kukere as Edu took to the turntables to mix the track.
