London is preparing for another amazing concert thanks to one of the best African event organisers in the UK – Cokobar. The event tagged The Cokobar Music Festival is scheduled to take place at the Indigo 02 arena on Sunday, 7th of October 2013.
The Cokobar Music Festival would be headlined by the melodious Flavour N’abania with Olamide aka Baddo of life and Sean Tizzle as the main supporting acts. Other supporting acts are Solid Star, Lola Rae and of course, the D3 dancers. The show will be hosted by the UK’s number one African comedian Eddie Kadi.
To promote the concert, first up was Sean Tizzle, Ropo of Cokobar and a representative from Lebara mobile(headline sponsor) at the press conference which was streamed live via OH TV’s OHBox and hosted by Abi of Phoenix Media. Sean Tizzle answered questions from both the press and his fans before heading off to Cokobar in Manchester to party with the Baddo himself, Olamide and their fans.
The media party then moved to Vox Africa’s live show, hosted by Adesope Olajide with special courtesy of Lian Okolie, CEO of Milestone Entertainment. In attendance was Flavour, the D3 dancers and Abi of Phoenix Media was also there representing Cokobar and the festival’s sponsors, Lebara and Arik Air. Abi spoke about the first Cokobar Music Festival which took place in 2010 with Wande Coal as the headlining artist, and mentioned the festival was held to encourage artists who were big in the Nigerian Music industry giving them a platform in UK.
D3 Dancers gave a live performance giving everyone a taste of what they should expect on Sunday. Headline act Flavour took to the hot seat with Adesope and let everyone know that it means a lot coming all the way from Africa to perform in London.
Flavour shared the story of how he started as a musician, he said, “I always wanted to be part of the choir. I liked the drums. One day I spoke to the music director and told him that I wanted to play the drums. He said I can come but I have to learn.”
Adesope even gave Flavour his props as he recalled a time when he spoke to Nigerian musician, Jaywon, who spoke of how great of a musician Flavour is and said he is the first artist he has worked with who plays the song on the organ/piano to make sure the melody is right before singing the song. Fans were able to call in the live show and tweet live throughout the show for a chance to win tickets to Sundays show.
When asked what the fans can expect, Flavour said, “I’m here and I’m well prepared. I just want to flavour them spice them up. I’m going to have fun, nothing too serious. I just want them to experience what Flavour is all about and I think they will like it.”
Flavour closed out the show with a beautiful acoustic version of his hit single ‘Ada’.
