For The Highly Discerning Man: Vans Kere Presents Its “Signore Fusion” 2013 Collection

share on:

Evans Akere of Vans Kere Menswear puts a slight modern and western spin on classic indigenous Nigerian menswear.  The Signore collection is very manly, with dark colours inter-woven with light colours – creative stitching and piping in strategic places makes the pieces stand out.  It’s a lovely collection for today’s young Nigerian man.

Speaking on the “Signore Fusion” collection and the inspiration behind it, Evans said, “The collection presents a rare mix of African and western style which the Vans Kere brand has been identified with for a long time. As Africans, we can’t neglect the western influence in our lives, and as such we have strived to create very rare designs that depict the masculinity of the African man in a mild western light”.

The Vans Kere label is primarily targeted towards the stylish adult man, and the “Signore Fusion” collection is further defined for the refined man as evident in the title of respect -Signore.

This collection features the rich art of embroidery which is basically an African thing, coupled with a stylish match of colours that were done in a mature way, bearing in mind the target. According to the Creative Director, “at Vans Kere we don’t dwell on loudness in designs. We emphasise on the richness and uniqueness of the fabric we put to use to ensure topmost quality, while also paying strict attention to details”.
