Nigerian based recording and entertainment brand Chocolate City was in Nairobi for the launch of its Kenyan division. The launch took place on Friday, May 31 at the Kenya National Museum and true to their style they never disappointed.
On set was the First Lady Victoria Kimani, Kenya’s own finest, our Beyoncé in the making. Victoria took the stage for a good 45 minutes and she set the bar just about too high for the Kenya Launch. Her style was different, she emulated the Beyoncé stage performance of switching outfits, had a band performance and so much energy, the sexy lass entertained the crowd and kept people on their feet. The highlight of the evening was Victoria and M.I performing her single ‘Oya’ which had been released barely a week before.
After Victoria’s amazing performance, the Chairman, M.I took to the stage churning out hit after hit. True to his style Mister Incredible serenaded a fan with his hit single “One Naira” – this has become somewhat of a tradition as he pulled the same stunt in Dubai at a show, only difference is in Kenya he sat the lady down on stage and went down on his knees – in the words of the chairman himself “the finest chocolate Kenyan lady of the night”.
You can download the Video as M.I serenades Deedah with the crowd rapping along to the lyrics.
Of the launch, M.I said, “Our aim is to create a platform for the growth and expansion of East African music and foster more mutually beneficial collaborations with other African sub-regions.”
Describing Victoria, M.I said, “Victoria Kimani is amazing, she’s got a great vibe and ready to work, very hard-working and she’s just good, the sky is the limit for her”.
Also in attendance were Chocolate City’s senior executives Audu Maikori and Paul Okeugo as well as Digital Manager Mohammed Kawosha and others.
The Nigerian based label’s Kenya launch also saw the official unveiling of the partnership between Chocolate City and Adrenalive.
Following the launch, the team and some of their fans moved to Sky Lux for the after party which went down like a true Naija party.
Chocolate city has set a presence in Kenya and I see great things coming through from the brand’s move to Kenya. Below are more pictures for your viewing pleasure.
