Things get really hot for Olanna (Thandie Newton) and Odenigbo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) as their planned wedding ceremony goes up in flames. Half of A Yellow Sun’s first movie trailer promises more action that anticipated.
The movie, an adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s novel tells the story of the Nigerian civil war in 1967 and how the southern region seceded from the rest of the country, resulting in a bloody three-year civil war.
The drama follows the glamorous lives of twin sisters Olanna and Kainene who lead separate lives after their studies. Their lives are dramatically changed by the events of the Biafran War. As the trailer shows, it was an extremely tumultuous time. Weddings were interrupted by bombs going off. Along with the violence and destruction, the sisters also face personal troubles with their respective lovers.
Half of a Yellow Sun, which stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton andAnika Noni Rose, does not have a release date yet, but it will be shown at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
