Napoli have rejected an offer from Chelsea to pay cash plus Fernando Torres for their player,Edinson Cavani.
Chelsea who are very keen on signing the player, are believed to have offered £34.1m in cash, plus Torres in a bid to sign Cavani, which was turned down by the Italian club.
Cavani has a release clause of £53.8m from Napoli, which they are adamant they would sell him for. Other interested clubs include Real Madrid and Manchester City, who are also monitoring the situation.
New Napoli manager, Rafael Benitez, has signified interest in bringing Torres to Italy,as the player’s future under Mourinho looks uncertain.
But since Torres joined Chelsea in 2011,he has failed to endear himself to the supporters, and justify the hefty £50m price paid to Liverpool for his services.
“Everything is uncertain at the moment. Today I have a contract with Napoli, but on the other hand there are some conversations going on and now things are a bit dynamic,” Cavani told OMNISPORT.
Meanwhile the President of Napoli said that Cavani would only be sold if the valuation of the player is met: “Cavani has a contract for another four years and a buy-out clause worth €63m (£53m),” De Laurentiis wrote on Twitter in a question-and-answer session in early June.
“We have received many offers for Cavani but all of them were much lower than the buy-out clause.”
