Exactly 12 months after they won their first League title in 35 years thanks to him, Manchester City have terminated the contract of manager Robert Mancini.
The Italian is expected to be succeeded by Malaga manger Manuel Pellegrini.
According to a statement by the club, Mancini’s dismissal was facilitated by the “need to develop a holistic approach to all aspects of football at the club.”
Chairman Al Mubarak said: “Roberto’s record speaks for itself, he has clearly secured the love and respect of our fans.
“He has done as he promised and delivered silverware and success.”
After 3 and a half years in Manchester, Mancini won’t be too sad to leave, with a reported 26 million pounds cancellation clause in his contract going with him.
