THE EDITOR’S NOTE
On our April Cover this month, we have a guy who has starred in over 50 feature films and 45 TV shows all over the world. He has walked the catwalk for designers such as Gucci, Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, DKNY, Jean Phillippe, Hugo Boss and got his big break into the industry as being the international Face of Tommy Hilfiger for 6 years straight.
He has worked in featured films like Warner Brothers big hit, “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” with Nick Cannon and Christina Milian, Gary Marshall’s, “Keeping up with the Steins” accompanied by Daryl Hannah and Jeremy Pivens and got his biggest movie break from his role in “Anchor Baby” alongside Omoni Oboli which won best film in over 15 festivals. Even though Supermodel Sam Sarpong takes his modelling and acting very serious, he still focuses on his other projects like his TV Hosting gigs on the MTV hit show “Yo Momma” with Wilmer Valderama to his most recent TV gig hosting Ryan Seacrest’s new show AXS Live.
Sam is a Ghanaian born Hollywood actor who has lived in America for well over 10 years. This month, Sam talks to Zen about the movies, working with Omoni Oboli on the movie Anchor Baby, his duties as brand ambassadors to BOY LONDON, and Nelson Mandela’s new clothing line 466/64 and, we get a little personal with Sam to find out if we will be hearing a Mrs. Sarpong sometime soon.
We dig into our fashion archives to review runway collections from Nigerien fashion designer Alphadi and Nigerian fashion label Agama Label. Atlanta fashion House Spring 2013 Fashion show was a fantastic show and we got the pics to prove it. When it comes to African fashion in New York, Adiat Disu is the woman to talk to and her project Adirée is reshaping the way people view fashion from Africa.
It’s one of the best times to be staying in New York, the Pikolinos Maasai Project will be launching a fantastic pop-up store in New York city to stock all the latest embroidered products by the brave Maasai women in Kenya through a project called the The Pikolinos Maasai Project. The shop launches on April 16th and the Official Pikolinos Gala Dinner will hold the following day at the United Nations Delegates Dining Room. We close the month with our Top Model feature on German based model Sarah Shotonwa and our Exclusive interview with Supermodel Sam Sarpong.
