Talib Kweli calls Rick Ross “a misguided 40-year old” following date-rape lyrics

Rick Ross has become a hot topic because of his ‘date rape lyrics’ in rapper Rocko’s  “U.E.N.O.” rap tune.  In the single, Ross paints the picture of giving a girl an ecstasy pill called ‘Molly,’ then having sex with her, while she is not mentally aware.

Put molly all in her champagne / She ain’t even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that / She ain’t even know it,” Rick Ross raps in the single.

Since he has come forward to offer a lame apology, claiming people are not understanding what he meant.  Allegedly he meant it in a different way, but has not given an explanation to what the lyrics truly mean.   No one believes he will be able to paint a different picture either as the date rape lyric’s intent are made clear.

New York rap icon, Talib Kweli , sat with Huff Post Live to discuss the lack of responsibility or care shown by Rick Ross to write the date rape lyrics.   In a very passionate speech, he admits the former corrections officer turned gangster rapper is a misguided 40-year-old man who needs to speak up on what is right.

I don’t care if Rick Ross is 40 years old. He’s a misguided 40-year-old person,” Talib said.  He continues, “Rick Ross condoned rape in that song and he should apologize. His apology that he offered was unacceptable.

Women’s rights group, UltraViolet, is planning a protest in New York City against Reebok for supporting Rick Ross, who’s promoting rape in his lyrics.   The event will take place Thursday-April 4th, at Reebok’s flagship store in New York City.   The address of the location is 420 5th Ave, in Manhattan-NYC.

Ultraviolet wants Rick Ross Reebok Shoe Deal Cancelled, citing his utter disrespect and lack of care for such a sensitive topic, date rape.

Nita Chaudhary, co-founder of UltraViolet, spoke out about the situation, “Reebok and Rick Ross have crossed a line – not only does Ross brag about drugging and raping a woman, he is pushing the idea that if you don’t use the word ‘rape’ it doesn’t count. We are fed up and disgusted with Reebok, and Thursday we will bring this fight to their front steps.
