‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ Passes $200million Mark At Box Office

Driven by very strong performances internationally, Gary Sanchez Production’s “HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS” from Paramount Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) and MTV Films has crossed $200 million at the worldwide box office, it was jointly announced today by the studios.

The studios also confirmed that they have begun developing a sequel to the project with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick of Gary Sanchez Productions and Beau Flynn expected to return as producers.

Starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, and written and directed by Tommy Wirkola, the classic fairy tale with a new twist opened #1 in 39 territories and has earned $205.9m worldwide to date. Aided by strong theatrical returns throughout its international run, the film has seen tremendous success in Brazil at $24.1m, Russia at $19m, Mexico at $14m and Germany at $12.8m, to date.

Picking up many years after the siblings escaped from a child-snatching witch, the two have come of age as fierce, formidably skilled bounty hunters dedicated to tracking down witches.
