RIHANNA FOR RIVER ISLAND: The 2013 Campaign

Our much loved celebrity rebel chic, Ms Rihanna Fenty finally released her much anticipated fashion collection in collaboration with British high street chain, River Island on Saturday at the London Fashion Week 2013.

The fashion world has waited months and months for this collection. If you are an avid follower of Rihanna and fashion, you’d know this isn’t her first foray into fashion, she dabbled with Mr Armani about 2 years ago.  It was only in good time before she released either her own line individually or as a collaboration(the smarter move).

The collection was co-designed with Adam Selman.  Her chosen models  – Jourdan Dunn,  Ataui Deng, Bambi Northwood Blyth,  Tao Okamoto and Charlotte Free  all photographed by Mario Sorrenti.  The full range of our favourite unapologetic star would be released in the River Island stores  March 5(I’ll be there).  In the US, it would be sold by via an online store, Opening Ceremony.  

Some of you would have seen some of the pieces online from the recent London Fashion Week and if you haven’t, here is a summary of her collection in the campaign.

The collection is typical RiRi, comfortable, stylish and totally daring with lots of attitude.  The pieces are a mix of chiffon, jersey, lycra, denim in the hottest prints(stripes, floral) and hues (neon yellow and of course, dark shades) made up of cropped tops, outwear bras, high-waisted bermuda shorts(a monochrome pair stands out the most),  a hooded jumpsuit(LOVE), floor length black dress with a daring long slit(x-factor UK 2010 closing performance outfit copy), shirts with long backs and a mix of  short dresses (look out for the neon yellow short dress – 2nd LOVE).

It’s a collection focused on her personal style and not the current trend., so if you want to dress like RiRi, go ahead, ITS NOBODY’S BUSINESS but make sure it’s with bouts of RiRi attitude.
