Kay’s 360 On Everything: Wise Men, Adages and IBB (@Il__Duce)

share on:

To err, they say, is human. However, what they don’t say is that to cover up your tracks neatly is divine. To summarize, a wise old man different from all the wise old men you know once said as his eyes followed the haphazard movement of the smoke that billowed from one end of a stick of weed he waved carelessly with two fingers: “To err is human, but to cover up your tracks neatly… ahhh, now that’s some divine shit.”

For all of IBB’s acclaimed savvy for evil and cunning, one thing he didn’t manage to do is cover up his tracks well enough. The trail keeps leading back to his doormot. The still elusive Pius Okigbo report is proof that he did attempt to take care of things after the event with some level of success. But really, all those monies should have vanished without any way of tracing the disappearance back to him.

Now, you will wonder what and why the hell IBB attempted t run for political office in this 4th republic given his antecedents as a military ruler. It’s simple: the man wants a second bite of chance’s cherry, a chance to obliterate the dark spots on his record forever. Nigerians, are you going to deny a contrite man the chance to make amends?

I say let’s gather a delegation and lead them off to that hilltop in Minna. I say let’s get the delegation on its knees and beg our very own Maradona to reconsider his decision to pull out of the overt part of Nigeria’s political scene. Remember, Diego Armando Maradona employed the Hand of God to gain redress from Britain (read England) for the Falklands fiasco. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida can use his Hand of Allah to change his history and therefore Nigeria’s history for the good.
