Apple has doubled the capacity of its iPad range and launched a brand new iPad Retina with 128 GB storage capacity. While the specifications of the new iPad are similar to its predecessors, the new iPad already runs the upgraded iOS version rolled out just this morning. The iPad comes with a 9.7-inch retina display screen. The device comes with FaceTime HD camera and as mentioned is already running the just announced iOS 6.1. The 128 GB model is powered by the exclusive Apple designed A6X chip.
According to a statement made by Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing: “With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”
So far Apple has been offering iPads with up to maximum 64 GB capacity. The new beefed up 128 GB iPads will come in two colours: Black and White. Additionally, Apple is offering two versions of the new iPad, one which is just Wi-Fi and the other that is Wi-Fi plus cellular. The price for the WiFi model is 799 dollars while the WiFi plus Cellular model is priced at a whopping 929 dollars. The iPads will be available in the USA market from 5th February. The world-wide launch date is still unknown.
