VOGUE cover girls Adele and Jennifer Lawrence triumphed at the 2013 Golden Globes last night. The British-born musician won best Original Song for Skyfall, while Lawrence topped the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical – category for Silver Linings Playbook.

“Oh my God,” said Adele during her acceptance speech. “Honestly, I’ve come out for a night out with my friend. We’re new Mums. We’ve literally come for a night out, I was not expecting this. It’s very strange to be here and thank you so much for letting me be part of your world for a night. It’s amazing, we’ve been ******** ourselves, you know.”

The singer also went onto thank Daniel Craig for “being such a wonderful Bond”, her “lovely son” and her boyfriend, Simon Konecki, who “persuaded her to do it”.

It was a successful evening for the British film and television world – Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor In A Drama for Lincoln; Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables took home Best Picture; Dame Maggie Smith received Best Supporting Television Actress for Downton Abbey; while Damian Lewis was named Best Actor In A Television Drama for Homeland.
