The mobile music download and streaming application Spinlet has partnered with Tecno Telecom in the launch of the brand’s Dual SIM 3G Android smartphone – the N3. The device will come with a pre- installed Spinlet application loaded with five new songs and credits available for use in downloading songs through the Spinlet app.
The partnership of Africa’s critically acclaimed music service, Spinlet, and one of the major mobile phone providers to the world, Tecno, creates a widespread opportunity for consumers to enjoy free music via the Spinlet application. Once downloaded, users can stream or their favorite music for free or pay per download on most smartphone devices including those manufactured by Tecno.
Spinlet chose the five pre-installed songs based on their popularity and to assist in building artists reputations and awareness amongst users. Some of the songs included are:
1. Abutter 22 ft. BOJ – Omo Pastor
2. Reminisce ft. Ice prince & Sinzu – 2mussh remix
3. Flowssick – Carry go
4. Iyanya – Flavour
5. Dammy Krane & E.L – Shalala
The market for digital music in Africa which has been mostly untapped to date, has opened the door for Spinlet to create partnerships with reputable companies including Tecno.
The Spinlet model allows independent musicians and bands in Africa to sell their music alongside other more prominent artists in Africa and from around the world. Spinlet also provides artists with tools to better understand their fan base and interact with them through social media.
By providing the application pre-installed, Tecno significantly increases the amount of listeners and potential buyers of these artists’ music. “In a country riddled by piracy, the free streaming and pay per download model that Spinlet and Tecno are providing to the market really helps create value in fans eyes and a revenue stream for artists,” says Eric Idiahi, Spinlet Chairman
