The director and producer of the highest grossing Nollywood movie of all time at the cinema, IJE, Chineze Anyaene has come out to talk about how it was having unarguably two of Nollywood’s biggest actresses, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde on the set of her ground breaking movie, IJE, The Journey.

The movie which sold over N60 million at the cinemas is due to hit the DVD and Blu Ray stores from Monday, December 3, 2012 in more than 6, 000 stores in Nigeria and US including North America and also on international merchandising site, I-Tunes. There will also be live screening on the following sites: www.ijethefilm.com, Amazon and i-tunes.

Chineze who bagged her Master’s degree in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy (NYFA) spoke about the duo of Nollywood actresses and Brand Ambassadors, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji while filming her record breaking movie, IJE, ‘’I have been watching a lot of Nollywood movies and I love the way they play their roles, so when I was writing the script, they came to mind and as a producer, if you can afford best in the industry, why not?’’.

Speaking on how she coped with the two superstars on the set of her movie, she said ‘’It was a wonderful experience working with these two stars, they knew I was a student at the New York Film Academy at that time, when the production started on the first day, they didn’t take part but they observed the session. When their turn came, they were very professional all the way, it was pleasant scenery all through’’.
The founder of Xandria Productions also spoke on how she managed to get Omotola and Genevieve on the set of IJE ‘’When I was even thinking of approaching them, a lot of people discouraged me saying the pair don’t talk but I went ahead to ‘chase’ them for months. When I called Omotola, she asked who the other actress was, I said Genevieve and when I called Genevieve she asked who the other actress was, I said Omotola (laughs) and she was like, ‘has she agreed?’ I said yes and Omotola asked me too if Genevieve had agreed, I said yes meanwhile they hadn’t even agreed (laughs) but I had to use that trick to be able to get them together in the film’’.

Chineze also spoke on the upcoming DVD release of her movie ”The DVD release is on Monday, December 3, 2012, I am excited and also expectant, for those who missed the movie when it showed at the cinemas here is another golden opportunity and this time for keeps”.
Synopsis: Transporting the audience from the lush countryside of Nigeria, to the Intensity and seductive power of Los-Angeles, IJE: THE journey tells the story of two sisters with unbreakable bonds of loyalty and the power of the human spirit. When Anya the elder of the two vows to chase her dreams of glamour in the Hollywood hills her younger sister chioma warns her of the dark side of the American dream. Now, years later in a word away from the life she knew, Anya is charged with the murder of three men, one of them her Husband. Chioma travels to her sisters side to battle not only a flawed justice system with the aid of young disillusioned attorney, but the very notion of truth as the cultural values of two world collide. Weaving a melodic and beautiful score through rich visuals in Los Angeles and Flashbacks on Location in Nigeria, IJE captures the viewer from the very first scene and delivers a powerful message through the moving conclusion.

CHINEZE ANYAENE’S IJE(The Journey) starring Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde was a big hit . The play which revolved around to sisters, their past experiences together and how they both helped each other in over coming their present problems simply brilliant. First of all, the script was very easy and simple to understand and the characters also played out their roles very well. The location setting for the play too was good, as the movie was shot both here and abroad making use of different international scenes. All in all the movie was great I hope to see more movies from her in the future.
