HOMEVIDA PRESENTS THE BEST IN NOLLYWOOD AWARDS THIS DECEMBER

You’ve heard the buzz, you’ve seen the adverts, you’ve seen the tweets, and you’ve heard about the vigorous competitions now on the 9th of December the HomeVida awards are coming to Lagos!

HomeVida awards have been in the home of Abuja and for the past two years on every 9th December, Anti Corruption day, Nollywood’s greatest are awarded; we are glad they have finally decided to come to the home of Nigerian entertainment, Lagos.

Incase you don’t know what HomeVida awards are let’s give you a quick update and summary:  Home Video Integrity Award (HomeVida) is an annual film award platform driving creative messaging on integrity and value change through the FILMS… In other words, they ONLY award the best in Nollywood entertainment, reward, transparency, quality and integrity in films. The platform provides incentives for talented Nigerian filmmakers to mainstream integrity values in their films. It is designed as a partnership between non-profit, public and private organizations to promote core national and corporate values that allow the foundation for nation building.HomeVida is the only award platform in Nigeria that calls for short film scripts, turn the finalists’ scripts into films, awards cash prizes to the winners and gives a one million naira cash prize to the winners in the feature film award category which have all been possible with the help of their partners Economic Financial Crimes Commission, Bureau of Public Procurement, Code of Conduct, Public and Private Development Centre, Securities Exchange Commission… yes even these government body supports the arts.

Past HomeVida winners are box office breaking movies “Ije”, “Inale”, “Tango with me”, “Adesuwa”. Last year’s event hosted the likes of Genevieve Nnaji, M.I, Paul Obazele etc.

This year HomeVida is giving out 1 Million each in 3 different categories. Nominated feature films are:

The venue for this year’s event is Oriental Hotel Victoria Island Lagos holding on the 9th of December with hosts Joseph Benjamin and Gbemi O of BeatFM. This year the HomeVida Ambassador is M.I, yes the very renowned and international artist M.I the rapper. M.I is a very big supporter of the cause as he holds a very special place in his heart for movies. HomeVida consider it a very great honour to have M.I support this cause; he will also be performing amongst others.

The greats of Nollywood – legends of old and the newest talent are all coming out for this intimate event at the Oriental Hotel on December 9th.

There will be Pre Award cocktail starts by 6pm where the short films and finalists will be showcased: Nominated short films:

  1. For the Public Conduct Film Prize endowed by Code of Conduct Bureau, the winner is Alexandra Kure’ave Hul with script titled: TO SERVE WITH ALL OUR STRENGTH.
  2. For the Child Friendly film Prize endowed by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) the winner is Frances Okeke with the script titled: THE POEM
  3. For Due Process Film prize endowed Bureau of Public Procurement the winner is Mendhie Emmanuel Imeh with script titled: NOT DO OR DIE.

Brief works of our co-hosts:

Joseph Benjamin will be anchoring the show along side Gbemi O of Beat FM.

Joseph Benjamin is known most for:

  • As the co-host of MTN Project Fame West Africa Season II (A reality TV show)
  • He grabbed the role of a lifetime as the co-star of Mahmood Ali-Baloguns movie “Tango With Me” alongside megastar Genevieve Nnaji in 2011, which won a HomeVida award in 2011
  • Lead role along side Monalisa in “Kiss and Tell” a Desmond Elliot film.

  • Future awards On air personality winner ‘08
  • DJ with Beat FM Lagos

With amazing reviews from last year’s event, this year promises to be more mind blowing and entertaining as the whole of Nollywood comes out to support such a noble cause and award the best in the business.
