It was a thrilling weekend for the young and talented in Abuja, as thousands turned for Season 3 editions of the country’s most watched musical reality show, Nigerian Idol.

“It’s the third year, but the numbers of young people who turned out to be heard was overwhelming – thousands of them!” said Tiwa Medubi, who is project manager, “You could say it’s because the show has numbers on its side, as the most watched music reality show in Nigeria, but I think more than that, it’s the lives that the show has changed, the dreams that have com true over the past two brilliant editions. Nigerian Idol is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Individuals, duos and groups came energized at the Rockview Royale hotel venue to showcase to the world – including many talented with instruments. “I have always dreamt of being on Nigerian Idol,” said Isa Abubakar, a guitarist, before his auditions. “Unfortunately I have always been in school during auditions for the past two years. But I have been waiting and dreaming. This year I made sure i was in Abuja a week before! And I am glad I did. Just being here is already a dream come true.”

Also adding to the excitement, lead sponsor Etisalat entertained the aspiring contestants with singers and comedians led by Kay Switch who performed his hit song, ‘Sister Caro’.
