The ‘Know Your Genotype’ Campaign (KYGC) Continues Its Tour Through Abuja

The Know Your Genotype Campaign (KYGC) continues throughout Abuja up until October. The next stop is Gwagwalada. KYGC, a free genotype testing campaign headed by the Sickle Cell Aid Foundation (SCAF) to encourage all Abuja residents to get tested and know their genotype.

The Sickle Cell Aid Foundation, a registered Non-Governmental Organisation, founded June 2010, aims at creating awareness of the Sickle Cell disease, the effect it has on our society, developing measures aimed at limiting and possibly eradicating the complications of this conditions’

After carrying out a survey throughout the FCT, SCAF discovered that approximately 25% of persons resident in Abuja had never heard of Sickle Cell Anaemia while 46.5% do not know their genotype, hence the launch of the KYG campaign.

The Sickle Cell Aid Foundation invites all residents of Abuja to find out their genotype and get educated at Gwagwalada Area Council, September 4th, 2012 from 8am.
