Serena Williams Wins 2012 US Open

Serena Williams defeated Belarussian Victoria Azarenka 6-2 2-6 7-5 to win the 2012 US Open females competition, the 4th US Open of her career, and her 15th career Grand Slam.

Serena Williams showed her class from the beginning, breezing the first set 6-2, before current Australian Open champion Azarenka fought back in the second start taking it 6-2.

Azarenka had several chances to close the game, but her serve let her down, and Serena Williams was able to claim the third set 7-5.

Serena has had an awesome summer so far, winning the Wimbledon title, Gold in both singles & doubles events at the Olympics, and now the US Open, which came with a prize money of $1.9million.
