Team Nigeria’s athletes in the London 2012 Paralympic games returned to the country yesterday, and were disappointed by the reception given to them.

When they arrived at Murtala Muhammad International Airport on Tuesday afternoon, there was no official of the National Sports Commission to welcome the 29 athletes, which was unfair to a team that won 13 medals which included 6 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze, made four world records, came third position in Africa and finished in the 22nd position in the world.

In an interview with some of the athletes by Channels TV, they complained that special sports was not given due recognition in Nigeria and that the government should accord them similar respect and reward as their able counterparts.
