As expected, the Foundation for Children of Bakassi, a pet project of Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the Zinnia Hall, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together some of the biggest names in the Nigerian entertainment industry and Political scene for the charity event tagged The Red Ball.

The event which featured Nollywood actresses strutting their stuff on the runaway courtesy of a Vlisco themed fashion show ended up as a night of fun and excitement.

Top Nigerian stars Funke Akindele-Oloyede, Rita Dominic, Shan George, Genevieve Nnaji, Joke Silva and Monalisa Chinda hit the runway in well tailored Vlisco Red ensembles. 2Face‘s African Queen Annie Idibia also cat-walked during the fashion show to a deafening uproar by the audience.

There were awesome performances by 2Face, Iyanya and Tiwa Savage.

Senator Ita-Giwa says that she is very proud of the children of the 8 year old foundation who she says would have become something else if they were not taken out of their previous environments.

The Senator said that she finds joy in raising the children and she feels really fulfilled that they are performing brilliantly in their academics.

“I have gone to their schools for sporting events and I heard Precious Ita Giwa, Paul Ita Giwa, Robert Ita-Giwa, are all developing the talents hidden inside of them. If I did not take them out of the places they were, they would not have had such exposure”
