Samsung has been handed a major blow after losing to Apple in its patency infringement battle. The South Korean company issued a statement decrying the verdict, saying it was “a loss for the American consumer”. Apple was awarded $1.05 billion in damages, after jurors judged that Samsung on six of seven mobile device patents held by Apple.
Sansung said the ruling would lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices. Apple in its own statement said the jury’s decision sent a “loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right”.
