The collaboration between a medical doctor and a lawyer produced a son. The parents christened their first son and second single: Oluwatobi. Their July 16th product has now metamorphosed into Sir Dauda, the afro soul crooner, R&B performer and hip hop lyricist.
Sir Dauda is Eko born and Lagos resident, French and Yoruba speaking with multiple Nigerian bloodlines. He was baptised into the classics of his parents: from King Sunny Ade to Jam Master Jay, Bongos Ekwe to Big Daddy Kane, Billie Holiday to Miriam Makeba, Nina Simone to Evi Edna Ogholi. He received piano lessons from Aunty May at Early Learning School of Music, Ikoyi, before moving to the MUSON Centre for classical piano training.
The hip hop influences such as Nas, Wyclef Jean, Erykah Badu and Missy Elliot came with puberty, alongside pimples and baritone. He has also sacrificed years obtaining tertiary education in non-musical fields – Law and Greek Mythology.
Sir Dauda’s guitar strings produces smiles with batch numbers, dead cells regenerate to the sound of his vocals and his lyrics are the arrows of Cupid. He is also a connoisseur of edible live performances. His first single, Sisi Oloja, is more than words can capture, so he recorded it amongst others.
