What do you get when you throw in Banky W, M.I, Praiz, Timi Dakolo, Skales, Mo Cheddah, Ice Prince, Lami, Dammy Krane and more in the same room? And o, wait. these were not even performers!

Artistes, Radio Personalities, Bloggers, Fans and more came out to support Chidinma, GreyC, Dee Moneey, Phizzle, Teeto and Sound Sultan at One Mic Naija which held recently.

One Mic Naija is a live artiste showcase and is fast becoming the event to go to for live music, mad performances and a good Sunday night out!

Organisers took a gamble by hosting the first Island edition of One Mic Naija (it used to hold at Browns Cafe Ikeja) but the idea according to a press release, was to bring One Mic to the Island and alternate with the mainland so all fans can enjoy the experience. One Mic Naija will therefore hold on the island and the mainland, and also move outside Lagos. (We hear Ibadan and Abuja are next).

The Island gamble paid off as GET Arena was packed full with guests out to support a performance list that included Naija Ninjas, Ghanaian Wunderkids, surprise cameos and more!

jaiye Keytarist opened the night’s performance with an electrifying performance using his keytar. Phizzle was next and he kicked off a night of surprising performances by bringing Falz on the stage to perform ”Ja fun mi”.

Teeto performed new single ”Go down” and then obliged the ladies by performing ”oshamo” almost topless!

Grey C was the first lady on the night, giving a good account of herself and getting the crowd to sing along. Next up was the Wunderkid from Ghana- Dee Moneey. Another surprise first though as Yung-El sang one of his own songs which had the girls swooning! Dee Moneey showed why he is called ‘The Wunderkid’ as even the Choc Boiz moved closer to the stage to see him live. He performed ”kpo kpo body” and ”Dash me da tin” featuring the Grip Boiz. He also took some time out to show the audience his azonto moves!

You might have thought that could not have been topped but Chidinma had everyone on their feet as they danced and sang along to her songs, ”Jankoliko” and ”kedike”. And to finish off the night was the headliner of the show- Sound Sultan.

He had a lovely medley of songs from the first album to his most recent singles and then came the last surprise of the night- Banky W getting on stage for ”Very Good Bad Guys”.

One Mic also had an Open Mic competition which was won by Cloud Nine. They won a blackberry courtesy Etisalat Easy Cliq, Studio session and free production courtesy Coldflames Production, teeshirts courtesy Effyzzie Clothing and Live Mechanics and free art cover design courtesy Uche Ugo.

The audience also got some freebies with beach mats courtesy Sterling Bank and One Mic audio c.ds. Three lucky winners went home with Etisalat Dual Sim phones, Samsung Dual SIm phones and an Ipod, all courtesy Etisalat Easy Cliq.

One Mic Naija is a WePlugGoodMusic initiative, powered by and s.h.a.r.e. The April edition was supported by 360 Nobs, ‘Anuel Photography,, Acme Concept, Coldflames, iCR8 Media,, Etisalat Easy Cliq, Effyzzie Clothing, Live Mechanics, NET and more.
