This week, 360Fashion STYLE DIARY features vintage loving GOLDIE IYAMU.
A Convenant University student, Goldie Iyamu is a budding stylist and designer at Moda Giovani (a fashion line that’ll début in a few months). He interned with ThisDay at the recent ARISE Magazine Fashion Week. He usually tends to dress on the vintage or formal level, achieving the very attractive neat and dapper look. He is quite the dashing individual. I’m so excited to see his diary entries this week!!

Today is indeed one of my preppy days again, as you can see that I have chosen to dress on the formal side as I usually do.
There is some colour blocking going on but I want you to notice is that I have particularly embraced the new men’s fashion trend of wearing bold coloured socks with formal oufits and it looks good.
I also did some print blocking, smart combination of prints and I did it well! The checkered blazer is worn over a printed shirt but the print on the shirt is much more smaller and lighter in colour than that of the blazer which is the key to pulling off this look. Rather than wearing a complimentary coloured pocket square, I have gone for a pocket square with the same print as the shirt. I just think it makes sense since there is a lot going on.
I usually wear brown khakis to slightly tone down my overall formal look but this time, I wanted something a bit on the edge so that my red-orange socks can be a great focal point, I have chosen a pair of olive green pants. The white floral pin is for an added playfulness on the entire look.
Brogues of course are one of the best formal shoes I know, the light brown ones I have are in suede which makes it even better. I could have worn dark brown brogues to probably match my bags but I decided to keep things light, especially since I am trying to achieve an overall bright look besides my very brightly coloured socks could have only worked better with these particular shoes.
And of course my bags, I’m never seen without a bag 🙂 you should develop the habit too.
Try mixing prints, follow the tip I gave above and you should be able to pull it off too! NB: My carry all bag is as a result of a project I had to present on and needed something to carry all my necessary folders. 🙂 – Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of weight lifting today with these bags. Sigh.
