LUCYLOVE’S FIVE AMAZING MAKE-UP TRENDS YOU SHOULD BE TRYING FOR BLACK SKIN.

share on:

Hello my lovelies,

As we get into the first quarter of the year and with AMFW2012 now behind us, here are some of the strongest make-up trends you should be trying out, if you aren’t doing so already. You’ll thank me later.

Trend 1: GO BARE

One of the newest and hottest make up trends for black skin would have to be the “Barely there” make up look.  What’s the point of wearing make up if it’s going to look like you are not wearing make-up?, I hear you say.  Well, the barely there make up trend has a “natural look” effect and is bang on trend with the minimalistic look seen on the runways for 2012.  For a ‘Barely there’ au natural look, use liquid foundation and not powder for a dewy skin effect.  Next pencil in brows – thinly, apply two coats of mascara on each eye and apply a generous amount of balm on your lips.

Trend 2: SHIMMER EYES AND NUDE LIPS

Shimmer eyes and nude lips is one of my fave make-up trends this season because it gives your face an overall balancing effect which is; strong eyes and subtle lips.  This effect is more sophisticated and timeless as opposed to a strong look all through.  To achieve this look, pick a shimmer eye colour of your choice and brush neatly over your eyelids, if you feel like pushing the rules a bit, apply shimmer at the corner of your eyes to give your look more drama.  For nude lips, pick a lip colour that is closest to your skin tone and apply. Finish up the look with a coat of lip gloss.

Trend 3: BURNT ORANGE LIPS

Burnt Orange lips are HUGE this season and has been celebrated on the runway for months on end.  Because this colour is so severe and strong, you will need to calm down the look with nude eyes. So, steer clear off eyeshadow or heavy eyeliner, you don’t want to look like an intoxicated rockstar. Nope!

Trend 4: GRAFITTI MAKE-UP

Thread carefully as although this look is bang on trend, it is only for the rule breakers in fashion and beauty.  This look breaks all the rules by allowing you to add drama to both your eyes and your lips.  To achieve this look without crossing that thin line of looking like a drag queen, you must practice your eyeshadow blending skills perfectly so that all palletes compliment each other. It takes practice but definetely worth it, if you are brave enough.

Trend 5: VAMPY SMOKEY EYE

Here’s the smokey eye look with a twist and the secret to achieving this look is smudging.  Once you have gotten your classic smokey eye look, wet your make up brush slightly and begin to dab underneath your eyes and around your eyelids. This gives the look a “shaded on” and somewhat messy effect. The end result would be a grungy rockstar look.

So what are you waiting for? Try these looks and be at the heart of the trends.
