About time, Nigerian born artiste Ripstar has finally made the move to the motherland to pursue his musical ambitions following completion of his Electrical Engineering degree at university. With songs already enjoying radio plays and commendable reviews, Ripstar has been able to gain some recognition in the industry through his little material released while in the UK.
With a strong passion for the sounds of Michael Jackson, Fela Kuti, Majek Fashek, and James Brown, he picked up the mic at a tender age of 12 after discovering the likes of ‘Naughty by Nature’ and ‘Public Enemy’. These sounds and a wide range of music enjoyed over the years have influenced his style to what he describes today as eclectic.
Signed to Medge Records, a newly established independent Nigerian Record Label, Ripstar is finally expected to cement his mark with lots of music scheduled for release in coming months.
Setting off, ‘Been So Long’ has been officially re-released by the label, a song which gives credence to his return to Nigeria and ambition to become a full fledged name in the industry. Ripstar is excited to soon be sharing his music to the world and if ‘Caviar Dreams’, another song just released, is anything to go by, he is certainly in the right frame of mind to accomplish this. A fun freestyle tagged ‘Re-Introduction’ also tells us a little more.
Ripstar’s next single ‘Baby Mi’ which is dedicated to his appreciation for women, is scheduled for release on the 14th of February.
