In the world we live in today, amongst the influence of the Hollywood life, there is nothing as fantastic as being celebrated for your talent and not just your looks. Adele’s second album ’21’ (sold 17million copies so far and a fantastic album too) won her a well deserved 6 Grammys besides other awards, making her the 2nd female after Beyonce to win so many Grammys in just one night.
It’s really refreshing to see Adele on the cover of a magazine that wouldn’t usually cover a plus-size. There is a certain classic look Adele has that is so breathtaking. Her huge eyes are so beautiful and she does have a good shape just big boned. These pictures here are astounding and the photographers have done a great job capturing the essence and soul of the ‘Rolling in the deep’ singer. The images have the effect of paintings and photographs at the same time, which makes them so special. The images are simple and non-fussy and at the same time very powerful and celebratory.
I think, one Nigerian magazine should be inspired by this and cover Waje and many other Nigerian female artists like this (capture the soul, do away with artificial and over-posed images). If you are in the business of producing magazines or images that are used in magazines (stylists, makeup artists, photographers), then you should be inspired to produce images like these. Nigerians have definitely come a long way and we have absolutely improved on the quality of what we produce and we should keep it up.
