HAPPPPPPYYYYYYYYYYYY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR FASHION READERS, FASHION LOVERS AND ENTHUSIASTS, (notice I am typing in BOLD for a dramatic effect *wink*). 2011 was a great fantastic year for fashion, and we were very glad to delivery fresh and urban fashion news and trends to your computer or mobile phone screens.
This year is packed with new and more exciting features and stories. I would be kicking off the New Year with a little dosage of lookbook goodness from the House of Nwocha design label.
I am personally fascinated by designers who can incorporate a variety of diverse textures into a single collection while simultaneously ensuring that there is a cohesive story/theme throughout the collection. Hence, it is no wonder I have tagged the new House of Nwocha lookbook; A JUXTAPOSITION OF TEXTURE.
Her latest collection features a variety of fabrics, from chiffon, jersey, sequins to cotton and even lace. When pulled apart, the pieces may strike one as mere glamorous garments that have been constructed randomly. However, once put together you immediately notice the mind boggling yet fantastic contrast that helps make the collection what it is.
THE HON SUMMER 2011 COLLECTION HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERY GIRL, FROM ROMANTIC GARDEN DRESSES TO SEPARATES IN SILK AND ORGANZA. AS WELL AS FLIRTY CREPE DE CHINE DRESSES WITH SMOKED WAISTS. A SPLASH OF COLOR ON BLOUSES, USING A WALLPAPER FLORAL CHIFFON IN PEACH AND AQUAMARINE AND A HYPER MODERN STENCILED WHITE LACE. ALL TOLD UGONNA’S NICELY BALANCED SUMMER COLLECTION STORY.
FOR THIS COLLECTION, THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR WANTED EVERYTHING AS LIGHT AS A FEATHER, THE CREATIVE BRAIN BEHIND THE LABEL WANTED THE PIECES TO FEEL LOST IN THE WIND. THE CLOTHES INCLUDE TYPICAL HIGH FASHION TECHNIQUES SUCH AS INTRCATE BEAD WORK, FEATHERS AND SMOKED WAISTS.
THIS COLLECTION WAS SHOWN AT THE 2011 AFRICAN FASHION WEEK LONDON
