The American University of Nigeria in Yola hosted Tiwa Savage, Noble Igwe and Saucekid as well as its students to the very first Nigerian Homecoming event on the 28th of October 2011. The main reason for the event was to clebrate AUN’s graduates with a first ever Homecoming Pageant.
The Mr & Miss AUN Pageant featured 11 students who had shown great display of intelligence and skills. The judges of the Pageant were Tiwa Savage and Noble Igwe.
After the Pageant, Charles Charles and Maryam Awaisu were crowned 2011’s King and Queen of AUN. Other announced winners were AUN’s Mr Talent 2011 Moses Obasi and AUN’s Miss Congeniality Bisola Mohammed.
“The celebration was worth the excitement in the faces of the crowd, the first homecoming in Nigeria is something to be excited about, it’s the first, and that means a lot, it’s not the second, or third and it’s definitely not going to be the last. The homecoming not only celebrates AUN graduates, but reflects a culture that shares in the interest of even the current students” as said by the Chairman of Campus Board Activities, Mr Dorsey Spencer.
