Kanye West debuted his highly anticipated Womenswear Ready -to -Wear collection in Paris to very mixed reviews (hey he’s a rapper so the criticism is definitely going to be tough) and a very well attended high fashion event as only Kanye could have pulled off. In the front row were the likes of Ciara, The Olsen Twins, Lindsey Lohan, Anna Wintour, Jeremy Scott, Alexander Wang and many more. Models such as Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Karlie Kloss hit the runway in the new ‘Dw’ collection, named after his late mother Donde West who passed in 2007.
He apparently bounced his creative ideas off some British designers (Louise Goldin and Katie Eary) – which isn’t surprising as he has atelier based in London.
Kanye West reportedly used the sounds of Waka Flocka Flame as the models walked down the runway in a mixture of fur, leather(lots of it), heavy use of zips, sequins, beads, bondage, plunged neckline style dresses – some critics pointed out the influence of Givenchy and Balmain in this collection.
Some critics slated the rapper’s efforts as ‘not a very good attempt’, some dismissed his use of fur for Spring wear, some said ‘his new career move is a work in progress’.
Ciara on the other hand said “He did a great job. I walked away from this show feeling like I would love to wear this line. There is so much in it that’s right up my alley.” (Source: CBSNews)
Vogue.com calls it a wardrobe for a super-groupie.
Enjoy the pics!!! What do you think? Hit or he should stick to his day job?
