In just a little over a month’s time (Nov17th to be exact in European stores and Nov19th in America) in 300 selected H&M stores worldwide, Versace would be stocking the stores with its collaborative line, Versace for H&M this Autumn/Winter season 2011 as well as a pre-spring collection in Jan 2012. This news is worth every fashion aficionado’s fashion status.
Versace isn’t the only high fashion brand who has gone down the route of designing for the Swedish high street brand. Other designers that have collaborated with H&M are Jimmy Choo, Karl Lagerfeld, Lanvin, Matthew Williamson and Stella McCartney.
Versace would be releasing a womenswear, menswear and home collection.
The whole collection is said to express the spirit of the upcoming season as well as a throwback on some of Gianni Versace’s vintage designs (bold prints, bright colours, use of gold in great abundance, leather, Medusa motifs, Roman, Greek and abstract art and do you remember the dress held in place with huge gold safety pins worn by Liz Hurley) as well as influence from Donatella Versace’s now vintage designs (Remember Jlo’s silk palm print dress?).
Let’s go down memory lane for a few seconds via images.
Ok, now back to 2011.
The Versace for H&M collection would feature a 40piece collection of dresses in studded leather, silk and colorful prints as well as 20piece collection for accessories of shoes, bags and costume jewellry.
For Men, it would be a 20piece collection that would focus on sharp tailoring, the perfect tuxedo, shirts with gold tipped collars, T-shirts, bomber jackets in velvet and quilted leather and 10piece collection for accessories of belts, caps, scarves and jewellry for men.
The surprise collection would be Homeware which would include pillows and bedspread. Homeware has never been designed by any collaborator.
A video as done by H&M, showing some of the pieces being fitted and Donatella talking through the collection and inspiration.
Enjoy and perhaps gloat over some of the images showing what would be hitting the stores. From history, Designer for H&M items tend to sell out within hours and days if lucky.
Here is a tip to bag that item – Queue outside your city’s flagship/main store on the day of release. Good luck.
Dear reader, If you do get a piece or fragment from this amazing collection in November do share with us, please. Thank you in advance.
LOOOOOOOVE THEM ALL.
