Wordsmith is one of Nigeria’s most prolific Hip Hop lyricists and is known for his witty lyricism. Before he came into the limelight with his stellar verse on the star-studded hit song, “Maga No Need Pay” (which also featured Cobhams, Omawumi, Bez, Rooftop Mcs, Banky W, Modele and M.I), he’d been voted in 2008 by British Council’s WAPI as an All-Star and one of the most likely to make Nigeria proud.
He’s loved by the underground rap community and by the mainstream as well. He’s worked on projects with other top Nigerian acts such as Sound Sultan, Wizkid, Kel, Lami Phillips, Skuki, General Pype, Mocheddah, Timi Dakolo, Iyanya, Waje and others. He was one of the first acts to perform at the Future Awards inaugural pre-awards conference and has gone on to rock stages across Africa since then, including the 2010 “Rock The Vote” megajam which held at the prestigious Trenchard Hall of the University of Ibadan.
Wordsmith is currently working on his album and has been dropping crazy rap freestyles to whet listeners’ appetites. Here is his scorching remix of Kanye West and Jay-Z’s “Go H.A.M” featuring the equally-gifted A.Q (who put on a brilliant display as well). Also dropped in here is Wordsmith‘s freestyle on Kanye’s “Power”.
