Lucy Phil-Ebosie: WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR LOVE FOR ALL THINGS STYLE AND FASHION?
I have always loved fashion for as long as I can remember. Looking back, without giving it much thought, I have always advised friends and close family members on what to wear and shopping for them at their request.
Lucy Phil-Ebosie: HAS FASHION STYLING ALWAYS BEEN YOUR CHOSEN CAREER PATH?
No! I actually have a degree in media culture and communications and a professional qualification in project management.
Lucy Phil-Ebosie: WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS ON THE GROWING FASHION INDUSTRY IN NIGERIA?
Personally, I believe the Nigerian Fashion industry is doing quite well and like our music industry it’s the next industry to blow up. Our designers are being recognized all over world and their designs are becoming more creative and acceptable to the international and local market. The local fabrics like aso oke, adire (tie and dye) and other African fabrics are being morphed into exceptional pieces. The 2011 Arise Magazine Fashion week was the start of something great.
Lucy Phil-Ebosie: IF YOU COULD PICK ONE FASHION ACCESSORY TO USE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Hmmm, this is a rather tricky question. I love shoes though! I find myself buying a new pair every time…
Lucy Phil-Ebosie: CLASSIC PIECES VS. TRENDY PIECES, WHICH DO YOU PREFER?
I would go for a classic piece anytime, any day because they are timeless.
Lucy Phil-Ebosie: WHERE DO YOU THINK THE FUTURE OF FASHION STYLING IS HEADED?
I believe it’s heading to greater heights, where fashion styling is not only seen as a thing for only the elite few but rather something for everyone because we all deserve to look our absolute best at all times.
Lucy Phil-Ebosie: AS AN ESTABLISHED WORKER IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY, WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CAREER?
The highlight of my career would have to be the opportunity to train with one of the UK’s award wining leading personal stylist Chantelle Zinderic of Topstylista. It enhanced my unique creative approach to styling real men and women.
I must say, there is a lot more to Fashion styling, than just shopping. It’s not all glitz and glamour; there is a whole lot of demanding work behind the scenes. I absolutely adore my job, my work is very diverse and everyday is totally different because every client’s requirements vary. So am not doing the same thing twice.
I find it incredibly rewarding working one to one with my private clients, whether it’s shopping for them/with them for specific outfits, helping them put together a whole new capsule wardrobe.
