360Fresh: Laji Dwayem And His 22s On A Danfo

share on:

We bring you the 360fresh on Laji Dwayem! As a follow-up to his sleeper hit cover of Wiz Khalifa’s Black & Yellow, Laji Dwayem has released 22s on a Danfo. In the months since the release of his previous effort, the song garnered over a 1,000 downloads, and spawned a host of other covers of the same song within and outside Nigeria by a bunch of smaller acts. 22s on a Danfo plays on the theme of the marriage of Hip-Hop and the infamous Lagos Metropolitan Transport, but it takes on a less playful route than its predecessor. The song’s thumping beat and raw Rap delivery takes us back to the Hip-hop roots from which Laji Dwayem draws his foundations.

Laji Dwayem is an emerging rapper that embodies the essence of the Underground Nigerian music scene. Sharing Ibadan roots with other musical acts such as Blaise, EFA and DJ Klem, he has earned his stripes as far as being in and around the game is concerned.

Until recently, he was E.Y.M.E. until circumstances in life brought about a change in his musical identity. His body of work includes a feature on Da Suspekt’sI no send you” [Naija All star mix with Wyclef] as well as participation in the Channel O Emcee Africa 2 that earned him a position as one of the top 10 finalists for Nigeria.

Beyond the seemingly exotic name, Laji Dwayem is truly an act to watch out for, in the foreseeable future. Listen below to his joints! Enjoy!
