Like most rap artists around the globe, Teria Yarhere a.k.a M.trill knew that he had the tendencies of putting words together to form rhymes before he ever knew he could rap. So when he embarked on a mission of writing lyrics for his elder brother, little did he know that he was laying a foundation for a career that will bring him this far.
Born into the family of Barrister and Mrs J.O.G Yarhere, “Mayjah trill” joined the hip hop movement when he was in College. Although he knew how to rap, he was never on the fore front, instead he began exerting his energy into organizing hip hop shows.
His first real single ‘bounce’ enjoyed massive airplay in Port Harcourt and he struck a deal with Grafton Records after graduating from the University of port-harcourt with a Bachelor’s degree in Geology. In 2008 he won the Channel O awards for “Best African West” category based on votes from the continent, a category which was also known as the category of death because it featured the biggest west African acts at the time, thus making M.trill one of the first African to win the channel O award without an album released (he was nominated based on the video for his first single ‘Bounce’) and Best Newcomer Award at the African Music Awards UK in 2009
These days, M.trill is busy shuffling between carving a niche for himself, performing at concerts and recording. He is currently working on his second album and is getting set to drop new singles after his mixtape “Ladies and Gentlemen” had very good critical reviews. Here are two of his songs – Kolobi and Microphone Killa. Goes without saying, M.Trill goes in hard on both joints. These are tracks staying on my playlist for a while. M.trill is currently being managed by “Rouge Management” , listen up and enjoy!
