Peep this nice Christmas Carol titled “Olugbala” recorded in the spirit of the season of Christmas by God’s Own Radicals which plays on popular carols – “Noel”, “O come all ye faithful” and “Joy to the world” and is recorded on a techno/dance/pop mix with a sprinkling of rap on it. Sounds pretty fresh uh!
God’s Own Radicals was formed in 2001 when 3 undergraduates of the then Ogun State University met at a local fellowship. The trio of Daddy D, Don-L & Donna-T started out miming songs of popular artistes and progressed into writing and recording their own materials. Daddy D relocated upon his graduation and the duo of Don-L & Donna- T continued to work towards the release of a début album.
God’s Own Radicals employ a sound that is distinctly Nigerian with thumping basslines and driving beats, mixing indigenous language with the English language in their songs. The songs cover a wide variety of subjects with emphasis on the praise of the Most High God.
The duo have shot two Videos for their singles “Praise Him” & “Omo Naija” directed by the talented AK One; both joints have received generous airplay on tv stations around the country.
They have also released a 19 track debut Album titled “Under Construction” available for sale online via http://www.zoodrums.com/?page_id=play2&CID=1310. The album can also be purchased at Laterna Ventures outlets in Lagos, Nigeria. You can follow the duo by visiting their website
We’ve thrown in “Omo Naija” as a bonus.
