The new duo FaRaw probably have one of the freshest sounds I’ve heard in a while. It’s kind of hard to describe as it combines elements of Jamaican reggae with Hip-Hop & Afro Pop …In a way, you could say it’s Arrested Development meets Orits Wiliki
The group is made up of 2 cousins – Fama & Mr Raw, who pass on positive messages in a refreshingly thought provocative way in all their joints …be it a smooth lover’s rock song or a street groove.
Fama & Mr Raw have extensive musical background that collectively span years, having been members of other groups and Mr Raw even being an opening act for the over-successful Fugees.
The Nigerian, American and Jamaican influences from growing up in Nigeria & America form a key part to the style and sound and look of FaRaw. The Jamaican influence had a stronger affect on Fama musically because he grew up listening to artists like Bob Marley,Beres Hammond, Buju Banton & Capleton. They both still reside in the States.
The future for Nigerian has never looked so brighter even with all the mediocre acts springing up every 18seconds; Groups like Faraw just need to be heard.
Peep all their cuts below and connect with their new sound.
