The English Premier League Round-Up

share on:

First and foremost, congrats to all Man United fans…this was our weekend.

League leaders Chelsea and Arsenal lost this weekend. Liverpool showed signs of promise, Bolton trash Tottenham and the following teams draw (Aston Villa, Fulham, West Ham, Birmingham, Blackpool, and Everton). Let’s go

Ji Sung Park scored a 92minute goal to seal victory for the red devils and close the gap between rivals, Chelsea to just 2 points. All credit goes to Wolves, who came into the match with all they got, giving united problems especially on the left side of defense. Wolves coach Mick McCarthy almost fainted after the late goal. Darren Fletcher was my man of the man of the match and his superb pass to Park made my day.

Arsenal had no excuse sha…they were at home and just failed to create chances up front. All kudos to Newcastle, they are playing some of the best football seen in the Premiership in recent times. Arsenal’s keeper Fabianski failed to touch the ball from a Joey Barton free-kick giving Andy Carroll a free header. Andy Carroll is England’s future sticker…end of story. Arsenal remains 5points behind Chelsea and 3 points behind Manchester United.

Don’t you just love the premiership…anything can happen. Fernando Torres single handedly destroyed Chelsea with two superb goals in the first half of the game at Anfield. Liverpool has started to show good form and are ready to take their place as a top 4 team in England. Chelsea was without Lampard and Essien, giving Liverpool the chance to control the midfield. That Ramires guy na just waste of money…period. Thanks to Liverpool the title race becomes more interesting.

Man City vs. West Brom: I was expecting West Brom to run Man city down, but the reverse was the case.  Balotelli scored two goals for Man City to earn all 3 points for his team; he also showed his area boy tendencies during the game, earning himself a red card.

Arsenal 0 – Newcastle 1
Liverpool 2 – Chelsea 0
West Brom 0 – Man City 2
Birmingham 2 – West Ham 2
Blackburn 2 – Wigan 1
Blackpool 2 – Everton 2
Bolton 4 – Tottenham 2
Fulham 1 – Aston Villa 1
Man Utd 2 – Wolves 1
Sunderland 2 – Stoke 0

•    Manchester United remains unbeaten after 11 games. The red devils are yet to lose a game this season.
•    Nolan, Tevez and Malouda did not score this weekend, but they remain top scorers with 7 goals each.
•    Liverpool move up to 9th place.

Football Quote of the week:

“We weren’t good enough at the start of the season; but we thought from the beginning we needed time to work with a new manager and new players. Now we have to show against the teams in the middle of the table, or teams who are not as good as Chelsea, we can play this way -with this intensity and quality.” Torres
